Synden Goldcrown stalked his throne room impatiently. He was expecting a number of important officials to arrive soon, and that always made him nervous and impatient. Especially the matter they planned on discussing today.

The king of a large and wealthy trading kingdom, kingdom Retrin, Synden had made many enemies in his rise to power. The most dangerous being those nobles of the land Hyllekn, a powerful kingdom that got most of its money from renting out their incredibly strong army. Many people had reasons to like the kingdom of Hyllekn, but an equal number had reason to hate them. Especially those Synden was meeting with today.

Synden jumped when one of his servants walked in and announced that his guests had arrived. The king quickly made his way to the meeting chamber. He opened the gold inlaid oak doors to see the officials already seated at the table and awaiting him. He smiled at all of them and sat down at his raised chair with grace and dignity. He cleared his throat and began the meeting.

“Gentlemen, let me welcome you to my fair kingdom and if you need anything, anything at all, please feel free to ask.” he paused and looked around the table, meeting the gaze of everyone seated. He cleared his throat again and began, “Now I’m going to skip all the beginning procedures and get right down to the matter at hand. We all know why we are assembled here, and we all agree that the kingdom of Hyllekn must fall, but any means necessary.”

“But that means money, and assembling an army of vast proportions without our enemy realizing it.” replied an extremely wealthy merchant, Ekern Welthcoin, it was rumored that the Welthcoin family was even more wealthy than the king himself.

Welthcoin continued, “To properly take down that powerful kingdom we must all assemble a vast and powerful army, as well as mercenaries and other killer-for-hires.” everyone knew he was speaking of assassins without even voicing it.

“Mercenaries these days cost too much.” a lesser noble of little importance other than his coin said in a huff.

“But those creatures, the homo carnite, they would be more than enough to finish off the Hyllekn kingdom, and they would do so easily.” a bear of a man said. His name was Hulen Ironscourge, he was a great warrior and brilliant general. He commanded the weak and small army of Retrin brilliantly well.

“Do you know how much a single squad of homo carnite costs?” Synden asked.

Hulen shook his head.

“About three fourths of our whole treasury.”

Hulen’s jaw dropped.

“What about those human mercenaries from the Present, The Scourge?” asked Ekern

Synden considered this for a moment, “That is a brilliant idea Ekern.” Synden said with a smile.

“And then we send another force attacking from behind.” Hulen said after he recovered from his shock, “The army of Hyllekn is powerful and extremely well commanded.”

“Who would attack from behind? The army of Retrin would be decimated, no matter how well you command them.” said a noble from a different kingdom. His name was Queln Firebrand, and he was the head of a vast and well connected information network. Anything that happened on the land of Throkogin was known to him.

“The Dark Triumuative.” Synden said suddenly. He named the most feared and respected group of mercenaries to ever walk the land. Headed by Rioth, the Dark Samurai-already a mercenary of high renown-The Dark Triumuative appeared suddenly a few years ago as a group of mercenaries willing to do anything if they got paid well. What was most surprising about them, was the fact they were only three and had decimated entire armies.

“Perfect...” Ironscourge said after thinking about it for a second.

“They cost a bit but we know the job will get done no matter what. Although they have the annoying tendency to ask for their own price depending on how hard the battle was. And if their employers don’t pay what they demand, their employers meet a violent death.” Ekern said with a sigh, he hated when simple things became complicated.

“That doesn’t matter, The Dark Triumuative would be absolutely perfect for this job.” Synden smiled at the officials there, “Thank you for joining us for this decision. Now that it has been decided how about we discuss more pleasant things?” he clapped his hands and exotic dancers entered the room from a few side doors.

Synden instantly began contemplating the destruction of Hyllekn. He knew it would be accomplished as soon as he heard The Dark Triumuative. With just The Scourge attacking he wasn’t sure, but now there was no doubt in his mind. The Dark Triumuative would have a big job ahead of them, destroying a kingdom was hard enough. But killing all the officials seated before him, with the exception of Ironscourge, that would be tricky. But it would get done.

The power and wealth of Hyllekn would belong to him.
